Robert Somol has been the Director of the School of Architecture at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) since 2007. He is the editor of Autonomy and Ideology: Positioning an Avant-Garde in America and has served on the editorial boards of Any and Log, as well as the soon-to-be-launched Flat Out. His writings have appeared in publications ranging from Assemblage to Wired, and will appear in his collection of essays, Nothing to Declare. For the 2015–16 academic year, Somol will be a Fellow at UIC’s Institute for the Humanities and serve as the Baumer Distinguished Visiting Professor at The Ohio State University.
